Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Malappuram, since the inception in 1988, has steadily grown from strength-to-strength and today is recognised across Malappuram district and beyond for its excellence in various fields of education. The vidyalaya envisages a new style of growth with identification and development of talented, bright and gifted children predominantly from rural areas of the district, who may otherwise be denied good educational opportunities. The main objective of the JNV system is to ensure that quality education reaches the children from poor socio-economic backgrounds. As it stands at the threshold of its Silver Jubilee year in 2013, it can look back at the journey undertaken so far with a sense of intense satisfaction of having these objectives kept intact. The students who have enriched their lives through education in the vidyalaya have become excellent individuals serving in the country and abroad in various capacities. The alumni of JNV Malappuram are making their presence felt in our society by decorating high positions in various civil, engineering, and medical arenas.
The CBSE results of March 2012 shows that the vidyalaya is way ahead of other schools in the district in terms of quality and quantity. The inherent nature of JNV system is not determined by the academic areas alone, but also by how best the potential of the children is nurtured and their ability to excel in extracurricular activities. JNV Malappuram strongly and firmly believes in inculcating values of unity in its students which they must feel proud of and which must guide them as a motto in the service of the nation. Self-reliance, self-evaluation, character building and discipline in academic pursuits which are built in mechanisms in our JNV foster this excellence.
The vidyalaya is proud of its dedicated team of teachers and other staff members. The staff in the vidyalaya is required to perform additional responsibilities attached with residential system of schooling, like Housemaster, remedial and supervisory studies, organization of co-curricular activities, escorting of students on migration, the boarding and lodging facilities and looking after studentsí welfare in general. Such nature of duties is unparalleled in any school system. Our school system is one where the guiding principles relate to excellence with equity. The students nurtured by our vidyalaya have a burning passion for education, they have an investigative bent of mind and a creative urge to understand the world. They get the keys to the treasure house of not only knowledge, but also discover the pathways to connect with the whole world, a sense of belonging and commitment to the community, to the nation and to the world.
As the vidyalaya is preparing to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2013, I seek the support and cooperation of all stakeholder to conduct it in a befitting manner.
