ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2012 CBSE examination, this Vidyalaya achieved 100 % quality result in both X and XII Classes. In AISSCE the students demonstrated strong academic calibre by achieving 82.36 school average which is better than the average in the previous year. In class X examination, 21 students were awarded merit certificates by CBSE for obtaining A1 in all subjects. In the internal examination conducted by  NVS Hyderabad centrally, our children fared very well. The  pass percentage  is 100.

SPORTS & GAMES

Our school showed admirable commitment in sports and games. Many students excelled at Distt, Cluster and Regional level Sports and Games. Mast. Hisham M.T bagged gold medal in the Kerala State Judo Championship held at Kayamkulam. Of 19 students who participated in the Regional level Judo competition, three students namely Jasna, Harikrishnan PP and Keerthana Sivadas got selected to the national level. Kum Jasna P of Class XI won bronze medal in the Navodaya National level Competition. 4 students of our vidyalaya namely Yasin Saleeque, Adarsh P, Rahul H and Prasad M played for Hyderabad Regional team in the National level basket ball Meet held at JNV Rajnandgav. Mast. Shahasad Kamal, Amal A, Adarsh Unni and Ajmal Hameed TK were the members of the Hyderabad Team in the National level football meet held at Pipersand, Lucknow. Master Ayush Tiwari was selected to the national level cricket tournament held at JNV Kheda, Gujarat. In nutshell, we have tried to provide our students with the technical, tactical and physical training to reach their highest possible potential.

Co-curricular activities

In CCA, the various competitions gave the students a chance to discover their calibre and talent through various competitions like elocution, drawing and painting, art & craft and essay writing.

2012 was observed as the National Year of Mathematics and 22nd December – 125th birth anniversary of Shri Srinivas Ramanujan - as National Mathematics Day in recognition of his contributions to Mathematics. The celebrations were inaugurated by Shri T.P Prakashan, Text Book Committee member, SCERT, Kerala on 21st August 2012 and continued throughout the year with competitions in News Letter boards, Housewise ICT Programme, quiz, maths Olympiad etc. Mathematical Year celebrations were concluded with a valedictory function in which Prof. TM Ramachandran, Chairman, PG Board of Studies in Mathematics, University of Calicut interacted with our students.

In the Regional level ‘On the Spot Pencil Drawing Competition’ held during Regional Cultural meet at JNV Kottayam, Kum Sandra Suku got the first prize. Kum Uthara (IX A) and Rohith Krishna (Class XI) won II positions in Poster Designing Competition organized by the Health Department as part of Akshaya Keralam TB Eradication programme. Our students also participated in the Stamp Designing competitions organised by the Postal Department at Mancheri and won prizes.

A week long kathak workshop was held last year in which the students were inculcated the steps of Kathak Dance by Smt.Susmitha Banerjee, a renowned Kathak maestro.

Promotion of Hindi

The vidyalaya is taking all the positive steps for the better implementation of official language Hindi. Hindi fortnight was celebrated in the vidyalaya in the most befitting manner. Essay writing, poem recitation, story writing, elocution etc were conducted. Competitions were held for teachers and other staff members.

Functioning of SEED

Our Vidyalaya is a partner in ‘SEED’ programme launched by Mathrubhoomi. In its efforts to make the campus eco-friendly, the Seed Unit of the vidyalaya has taken up activities such as plantation, elimination of plastic use and vegetable gardening. In recognition of its eco-friendly campaign, the vidyalaya was presented with ‘Haritha Vidyalaya Award’ in the Tirur Educational district. This is the second award presented to the vidyalaya since the inception of SEED.

SUPW model prepared by our students got second position in the Cluster Level Exhibition held in Kannur.

Counselling And Guidance

We have also integrated counseling and guidance into the action plan. Many qualities such as leadership, accountability, kindness and integrity are emphasized in a variety of ways at the vidyalaya Assembly, then followed up in class rooms. The experts are invited from reputed institutes to conduct counseling and guidance to students. Career Counselling classes are also taken by experts to guide them to take up further studies.

Pace-Setting Activities

One of the objectives of the Navodaya vidyalayas is its pace setting role. We have organized some pace setting activities this year. Awareness campaigns during various occasions, cleanliness drive, resource sharing programmes, extending the facilities like playground and library to neighboring institutions etc are some of the activities we have taken up to fulfil our pacesetting role.

CONCLUSION

Contentment over our achievements has never been our motto but only continuous and dedicated efforts towards excellence. We acknowledge our lacunae and loopholes and pledge to work harder and overcome all obstacles which hinder success. We assure all the stake holders our continued commitment and perseverance in reaching our coveted goal of success and maintaining the grandeur of our vidyalaya.
